POOLSIDE OASIS

The pool has beautiful views of Cayuga Lake and Cornell University in the distance, but the area immediately surrounding the pool was drab and lifeless. Since this view features prominently from the windows of the clients' home, this garden needs to look good year-round. The show starts in spring with colorful bulbs and shrub foliage, continues in summer with brightly blooming perennials and shrubs, and goes right through the winter with evergreen shrubs and ornamental grasses. Plantings were kept low and airy so as not to block the distant views. A small seating area has space for two Adirondack chairs, carefully placed to soak up the last rays of the setting sun.
